United in helping boxer welfare
Dundee United and Scotland star Craig Conway is giving fans the chance to own a limited edition memento of the Tangerines' Scottish Cup final win to raise money for a charity that rescues and rehomes boxer dogs.

Boxer Welfare Scotland (BWS) has given nearly 400 dogs new homes since it was founded in 2005, and it has now launched an appeal to try and raise more funds to keep their rescue services running.
Craig has arranged for a signed photo from the game to be sold on eBay alongside a signed football and signed United shirt, with the auction running until Sunday lunchtime.
He said, "I was very happy and privileged when Boxer Welfare Scotland contacted me, and I'm honoured to help in any way I can to raise awareness of BWS and their work. It makes me sad that so many boxers are without homes.
"Boxer Welfare Scotland put in so much hard work and time to not only rescue and care for so many of these beautiful dogs but match them very carefully with loving homes and give them a chance to have the happy life they deserve."
Staff at Boxer Welfare Scotland also want to encourage more people to adopt boxers from them rather than buying puppies from private breeders."
The group has two volunteers in Dundee.
One — Melanie Smith — owns two boxers rehomed through the charity. She said, "When people take on a boxer it's important they know what they are getting themselves into because many people don't know what they are taking on.
"If they do have to give the dog up Boxer Welfare Scotland is a good way of doing that as they do home checks to make sure is going into a good home that's hopefully forever this time."
The other volunteer is Fiona Stewart, who owns boxers called Dudge and Bauer and whose husband Jamie is running the Inverness marathon as a fund-raiser for the charity.
She said, "The funds from the eBay auction are much needed just now and I think it will also attract more people to the website from where they might consider taking on a dog."
