Clan Donnachaidh Museum opens gift shop at House of Bruar

A popular clan museum in Highland Perthshire is giving visitors the chance to take home a little piece of Scotland with them.

The Clan Donnachaidh Museum has launched The Little House gift shop at the House of Bruar, inspired by former employees.

David Allan and Cath McCartney worked in retail for over 20 years until they retired in 2009 and spent time at the attraction.

Cath said, "I worked in the Clan Donnachaidh Museum part time over the last year, and saw the potential to sell a range of Scottish related gifts and selected gifts that have caught my eye."

Creating the shop has allowed the museum to stay open for longer and learn more about the celebrated clan, as well as see some of its history and search the database.

The Clan Donnachaidh Museum has several clan treasures on display, including the Stone of the Standard, carried by the clan chief when entering battle. It was first used at the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314.

Entry to the museum is free and includes free use of a hand-held audio guide. Opening hours for The Little House and museum are 10.30am-5pm Monday to Saturday and noon to 5pm Sunday, all year round.
