The college has teamed up with the Scottish Youth Hostels Association (SYHA) and will boost the local economy.
The ground-breaking joint venture means that, during term, SYHA will manage the college's new student residences on the Crieff Road campus to provide on-site 24-hour cover.
Outwith term dates, the residences will join the organisation's network of summer tourist hostels which are open to the public.
In the past SYHA has opened hostels in student accommodation in Edinburgh and St Andrews but this is the first time that a partnership with an education provider has been extended year-round.
College director of communications and corporate development Sara Wood said, "This pioneering agreement means that Perth College UHI benefits from SYHA's track record in running hostels, giving our students the best experience possible in terms of student residence support.
"In addition the opening of the residences as hostel accommodation during the summer will encourage even more tourists to visit Perth and stay in comfortable, good-value accommodation, benefiting the local economy.
"SYHA will employ a manager who will work within our campus to manage the residences and recruit the duty supervisors to provide the 24-hour cover for our students in residence."
SYHA chief executive Keith Legge said, "We are very pleased to be working with Perth College UHI to operate this excellent new student residence facility.
"This partnership is a cost-effective way for us to provide a high standard of accommodation to our hostelling guests, while ensuring that Perth College UHI's students benefit from top-quality accommodation during their studies here."
