At 11am Fiona Watson and Julie Flavell will read from their works and examine how the past is represented.

Students from Dundee University's creative writing programme will present their works at 1pm and at 2pm Pamela Cairns will share her experiences of working with street children in Peru.

Cynthia Rogerson will share the secrets of the novelist's trade at 3pm when she hosts a fiction workshop and a literary salon at 5pm will feature Di Hope, who will discuss the crossover between painting and literature.

''Thursday's events are a fantastic chance for anyone with a passion for books to come together and engage with people who have succeeded in the very competitive literary world,'' said festival director Anna Day.
