The painting, valued at £20,000-£30,000, shows the snow-strewn Sidlaws from Birkhill, just west of Dundee.

Patrick was born there in 1907, and after training at Glasgow School of Art established himself as Scotland's foremost traditional landscape painter.

Another of Patrick's work in the sale, Sheep Farm on the Braes of Breadalbane, is a perfect example of the influence on the artist of the Flemish 16th century master Pieter Brueghel the Elder.
