Bon Fest has been organised by local group DD8 Music every year since 2006 and pays homage to Bon Scott, former lead singer of the iconic rock band.

The festivities were kicked-off by a variety of pub gigs, including sets by The White Light and The Trade, before a concert at the town hall, headlined by Bon's Balls — one of Scotland's top AC/DC tribute bands.

DD8 Music chairman Steve Gibbons said he wanted to celebrate the fact that "a guy from Kirrie went on to become such an amazing rock icon."

He added, "We just felt that there wasn't enough recognition of this in the town and that's how it all started.

"Every year the event has got bigger and better and now we get people from all ends of Britain coming along. We even have visitors from Hungary."
