Brought up in Stirling, Mr Jamieson was educated at Fettes College in Edinburgh and St Andrews University. He spent a year at the Union Theological Seminary in New York and then worked as a locum minister in Canada before returning to Scotland.

Mr Jamieson was an assistant minister in Glasgow before accepting the call to Panmure Church in Monifieth.

Panmure united with the other two Monifieth kirks, South and St Rules, in 2008 to form Monifieth Parish Church and he then became part of the ministry team, initially with Rev Donald Fraser, who retired last year, and since 2009 with Rev Dorothy Anderson.

Mr Jamieson retired on Sunday after conducting two final Easter Day communion services at Panmure Church.

A buffet supper was held after the evening service to mark his retirement and presentations were made on behalf of the congregation to Mr Jamieson and his wife Valerie, who is also the parish organist.

Mr Jamieson is a keen fisherman, ornithologist and rugby fan and among the gifts from the congregation was a caricature of the minister reflecting his many interests.

He intends to stay in Monifieth and will remain as chaplain to Ashludie Hospital as well as undertaking some pastoral work for the parish.

Now we see the Lady Reverend and her band of do-gooders ruining the community of churches in Monifieth, building a modern slum in the centre, and losing all the glorious heritage of St Rules, they will go down in history as destroying heritage and assisting in the destruction of the Parish. Shame !
