The Mountains Animal Sanctuary in Glenogil welcomed Zak into the world earlier this month — the third foal to be born to a group of eight horses the centre rescued from Ayrshire this year.
His arrival has taken the total number of horses and donkeys at the Sanctuary to 158.
Zak has gone from strength-to-strength since his birth on July 16, and staff and volunteers and the sanctuary are delighted to see that their latest arrival is continuing to do so well.
However, they have used his birth to highlight the financial strain they are under at present and have appealed for help.
"We usually have about 130 animals at the centre, but we are well up on that at present," said the sanctuary's Alan Fraser. "On average we take in around 19 animals every year, but in the first three months of this year alone we took in 22.

"It has been a record year for us.
"And, what with the extra foal, it is going to put an extra strain on our finances. We would appeal for people to help."
"The eight animals that came from Ayrshire have all settled in really, really well," he said. "A lot of them were very nervous when they first arrived, but they've all pretty much settled.
Meanwhile, the sanctuary has named the winner of a competition to give the young foal his name.
A group of Whitehills Primary School pupils from Forfar journeyed to the centre, and the lucky one who chose Zak was P2W's Struan Addison.
The school was given the chance to name Zak after they held an Easter collection and visited the sanctuary.
