Business community urged to support CityJet's London service

The business community has been urged to make use of CityJet's new London timetable — or risk losing the service for good.

The company's decision to rethink its early-morning Dundee to London City schedule has been welcomed by Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce — but chief executive Alan Mitchell says it is vital for people travelling to the capital to use the service as much as possible.

CityJet revealed on Monday that it plans to introduce a larger aircraft on the route in January and reintroduce an early Monday morning flight from Dundee so that business people can make morning meetings in the city.

This was in response to criticism of timetable changes that came into force at the start of November and which put back departures from Dundee so that travellers were unable to keep earlymorning meetings in London.

CityJet's main timetable concession is to schedule an early Monday morning flight from Dundee that will get into London at 8.30am.

Mr Mitchell said the company's timetable revision was "great news", adding, "It clearly demonstrates CityJet's commitment to the route.

"Having an airport with regular services to major UK business locations and population centres is a great asset which will help to attract and retain business investment in Dundee and Angus."

But Mr Mitchell warned, "We cannot take the existing routes for granted. We have to use them if we want to retain them, so we would encourage anyone looking to travel to London to use this service as often as they possibly can."

Used service over past year, instead of Aberdeen (5 times). It's very good but mighty expensive-there's the double-edged sword for airline, airport, travellers & businesses alike. Until price is more competitive use much beyond business will stay low. Keep expecting to be told to use cheaper options

Promoting air travel at the same time as the future of the rail service north of Edinburgh to Dundee-Aberdeen and Perth-Inverness is threatened? Nice one!!!
