The House of Bruar walked away with the diamond accolade for their honey roast sausage. A panel of meat industry experts said the sausage was "innovative" with "fantastic taste and texture."

The award-winning banger was developed by the House of Bruar butchery team at the request of chairman Mark Birkbeck, and since its launch four months ago it has become one of the shop's best sellers.

As well as the diamond award, the store also won seven gold, three silver and one bronze award which was the equivalent of an award for every entry, despite only becoming members of the Q Guild recently.

During a lunch and awards ceremony in Butchers Hall, London, TV chef and restaurateur Heston Blumenthal presented House of Bruar master butcher Harry Coates with the accolades.

He was so impressed with the sausage, he requested a sample of it with a view to adding it to the menu of his restaurant, The Fat Duck.
