Dundee's industrialisation warned against
The head of Dundee Civic Trust has said he fears plans to build a biomass power station and two wind turbines at Stannergate may be just the start of a massive industrial building programme.

Chairman Tom Devaney said the two proposals — which have been put forward separately by Forth Energy, the joint venture set up by Scottish and Southern Energy and Forth Ports — undermine plans to redevelop the city's waterfront area.
He said, "We really need more information about the whole process of consultation.
"There are a lot of things being said both for and against, but I think Forth Energy should be more forthcoming about their longer-term strategy and what they plan down the line."
Mr Devaney said he fears the turbines and biomass generator could be followed by other large-scale renewable developments on the docks.

"We do not know the scale of the infrastructure required by the biomass either," he added.
"I think the developments are closer to the redevelopment area than most people have expected, if they were expecting anything at all."
Mr Devaney added that he believes opposition to the turbines is not just a case of "nimbyism."
"I think this affects everyone in Dundee, not just people in the immediate vicinity," he said.
"While we are trying to construct a better image for Dundee in the eyes of the rest of the country this is really crucial."
Linda Cooper, who lives on Eton Street, also fears the turbines would soon be followed by others.
More turbines
She said, "I fear that given half a chance Forth Ports would increase the number of turbines and completely spoil the natural beauty of the area.
"This company has done nothing to benefit Dundee and even took away the use of the cycle path."
Her husband Allan said, "We have such a beautiful natural asset it would be criminal to ruin it.
"I hope that this planning application is shown the door — unlike some previous blunders that have slipped through Dundee planning department."
