Samples from the man who contracted the condition at the leisure suite of the Landmark Hotel on the western outskirts of the city are to undergo further analysis in laboratories at Ninewells Hospital today and tomorrow.

Environmental samples collected from water, fixtures and other surfaces are also to undergo scrutiny.

An NHS Tayside spokeswoman said that the samples would be examined and the results are likely to be known in a day or two.

The swimming pool and leisure facilities at the establishment, known previously as the Swallow Hotel, have been closed since March 17 after 66 people complained of flu-like symptoms after using them.

NHS Tayside's health protection team and Dundee City Council environmental health officers announced on Friday that one case of the potentially fatal disease has been confirmed.

The man who contracted the disease is in Ninewells Hospital and no report in his condition was available on Sunday.

Those who complained of flu-like symptoms were members of staff or visitors. They were understood to have been able to stay at home without needing hospital care.

The outbreak is restricted to the leisure club which remained closed on Sunday and all other parts of the hotel are open.

I'm an Environmentalist & Mechanical Engineer in the States, who's trying to get public attention to the fact that this is a health problem that must be dealt with. There was a recent outbreak in the Playboy Mansion in LA. There's been numerous fatalities. Some H2O systems can breed the virus.
