Council told giving more information might have avoided taxi rank row
Any litter dropped by passengers using a proposed overnight taxi rank outside St Andrew's Cathedral must be cleaned up before morning, Dundee City Council has been told.

West End councillor Fraser Macpherson said he had been contacted by a number of residents worried about the plan, although he hoped that many of those concerns had been allayed by confirmation that the rank will only operate between 11pm and 6am.
"But I have sought assurances from the director of city development to ensure arrangements with waste management are in place for any litter to be removed before the cathedral opens in the morning," he said.
Andrew McBride, the chairman of West End Community Council and a cathedral parishioner, said, "I fear this issue has been blown out of all proportion due to a lack of proper consultation and information from Dundee City Council."
Bishop Vincent Logan has been among those to express concerns.
Graeme Stephen, chairman of the Dundee Taxi Association, had said there was a need for a new rank and opponents should "grow up."
Mr McBride, who was speaking in a personal capacity, said Mr Stephen's comments had been "not very productive" and said parishioners weren't anti-taxi.
He has written to the city council explaining he feels the heat could have had been taken out of the situation had it been clear from the outset that the rank was for overnight use only.
