Scott Duncan (31) — who is willing to offer a small cash reward for the return of the discs — said he and three friends hailed a cab in St Andrews Street at around 4am on Saturday after leaving Cage nightclub.

"I put the record box in the boot — it's silver with two identifying stickers saying 'neon' and 'discorotic' — but when I got out in Perth Road I forgot and left it behind," he said.

Scott said the taxi had stopped at a petrol station en route.

The records haven't been handed in as lost property and calls to local taxi firms produced no result.

"I suppose the guy could just have been going off on holiday or just hasn't thought to look in his boot, but I would really like to get the records back," Scott added.

Anyone with information on the records is asked to contact 01382 523514.
