Scottish firm Uaine formed in 2007 and is now looking to expand as demand for renewable energy sources grows.
As part of its plan to reduce emissions, the Scottish Government intends to source all of Scotland's energy from renewable sources by 2020.
It expects 13% of energy to be generated through biomass and Uaine, which is Gaelic for "green," believes Dundee is the perfect city to set up a manufacturing base for its biomass boilers.
Although plans for a large-scale biomass generator at Dundee docks remain controversial, Uaine hopes that smaller units for individual homes will prove a hit with the public.
The company constructs compact wood chip and wood pellet boiler systems called a WoodyCube. The self-contained units can be assembled to suit any size of property, from two-bedroom homes to larger properties.
Uaine's sales and marketing director Steven Robertson — who is based in the city — said: "The intention is to have a manufacturing base in Dundee because of its location and its background in biomass.
"It has an excellent workforce which is necessary because we want to hit the ground running."
Mr Robertson said current small-scale biomass units are imported from abroad and can take weeks to install. Uaine's WoodyCubes are assembled from pre-fabricated units and so can be assembled and installed within a couple of days.
Mr Robertson added: "We primarily supply to the renewable heating industry and have an accredited supplier network to meet the needs of small and large customers.
"We can supply wood pellet plug-and-play boiler systems ready-fabricated suitable for two- to four-bedroom houses up to country mansions, which can be installed in a day or two, and wood chip or pellet boilers with larger fuel stores and tanks which can heat multiple houses, swimming pools, or large commercial properties."
