The seven-year-old girl and 56-year-old man were taken to Ninewells Hospital after they were struck by the police car in Douglas late on Sunday night.

Tayside Police say the marked Ford Focus was travelling south in Douglas Road at about 11.25pm when the accident happened.

The man suffered cracked ribs and a fractured fibula, while the girl suffered a facial injury. Both were kept in hospital overnight. No one else was injured.

Police say a full investigation is under way and are appealing for witnesses to call 0300 111 2222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
