Tiger Woods all washed out at Dundee launderette

A rare collection of Tiger Woods memorabilia will go on display in a Dundee launderette this week to coincide with the golfer's return to sporting action after having his dirty linen aired in public.

Woods, the world's most famous golfer, will compete in this week's Masters tournament in Augusta following a self-imposed break from the sport after details of his marital infidelities became public knowledge.

Dundee businessman John Justice (54) owns four championship flags signed by Woods — one from each of the four major tournaments he won during his "Tiger Slam" of 2000 and 2001, when he became the first golfer to hold all four major titles at once.

The flags were bought in a blind auction at the St Andrews Bay Hotel in 2003 and, after being framed by Eduardo Alessandro Studios in Broughty Ferry, will now be put on display at Staypress laundry in Caird Avenue.

Visitors who want to see the flags will be asked to make a small donation to the Help For Heroes charity — but Mr Justice admits that not everyone is enamoured with Tiger's success.

"I spent a few thousand pounds on them and it didn't go down too well with my wife," he said.

"I do reckon they are worth quite a bit as you still see official championship flags on sale for quite a lot but I've not seen any from 2000/2001 advertised anywhere.

"It was the millennium year as well and the 100th anniversary of the US Open, so there is quite a bit of history.

"I will put the flags up in my office and if anyone wants to see them they can make a small donation," he added.
