Proud Kinglassie couple celebrating safe arrival of triplets

They say two's company and three's a crowd, but a Fife couple celebrating the safe arrival of identical triplets beg to differ.

New parents Daniel and Kirsty Woodhouse, from Kinglassie, will no doubt have their hands full after welcoming the trio of boys into the world at Kirkcaldy's Victoria Hospital on Thursday — although they would not have it any other way.

Austin, Ellis and Jenson are the first set of triplets to be born in the new maternity unit at the Victoria Hospital after it opened on January 9. In the wake of some negative stories about the new-look hospital recently, both Daniel and Kirsty have praised maternity staff for the safe delivery and excellent care of the newest members of their family.

Kirsty said: ''The staff have been great and very supportive all the way through the pregnancy. The care my three boys and I have received has been fantastic.''

Austin was the biggest of the three, weighing 6lb 1½oz, with Ellis weighing 5lb 3½oz and Jensen 5lb 2½oz.

All three are being cared for by staff in the hospital's Special Care Baby Unit until they are ready to go home.

Triplets tend to be a relatively rare occurrence in the Kingdom and a spokesman for NHS Fife suggested they usually come along every 18 to 24 months.
