North-east Fife community inspector Brian Poole said there had been a number of complaints and, following consultation through community meetings, local officers had identified youth disorder as being a particular concern.

In recent weeks a number of complaints relating to low-level anti-social behaviour accompanied by underage drinking had merited a police response, he added.

"Whilst it is pleasing to report that the vast majority of crime reported in the Ceres area since the beginning of July has been detected, we are still keen to hear from anyone who may have information in relation to a smashed window within the grounds of the primary school, which happened some time between July 29th and August 2nd," Mr Poole said.

"We will step up our regular patrols in the area in an attempt to further improve the situation.

"Through intelligence-led policing we will target our resources to the right locations at the right times. Community information is therefore vital in ensuring we deploy effectively."

The officer added that police are committed to tackling anti-social behaviour and ensuring neighbourhoods are safe for everyone.

It is a particular concern that alcohol is being supplied to those under the age of 18 as this leads not only to the potential for anti-social behaviour but also places young people in a vulnerable position.
