Scotland's largest airshow, which is celebrating its 70th year, is just 15 minutes from Leuchars train station and the constabulary hope that a large number attending will opt for this form of transport.
In addition, three park-and-ride sites have been set up around the base.
Fife police are appealing for all motorists to follow the numerous signs placed throughout the roads network, directing them to the relevant park-and-ride facility.
Inspector Bruce Thomson said,"Working with our partners, the traffic management plan for the event has been refined on an annual basis taking into account good practice and learning points from previous airshows.
"However, to get the full benefit from this work, drivers can help by following the signs and the directions given by officers engaged in traffic control.
"Drivers should not be tempted to deviate onto other routes as they will then get held up as the main signed routes will have precedence throughout the day. There will be a number of 'no waiting' and other restrictions in place and anyone parked in contravention of these may find their vehicle is towed away."
In previous years, residents of Leuchars and Guardbridge have been able to obtain resident permits to assist them in gaining access to certain areas of the villages, but in consultation with community council representatives it has been decided that these were no longer necessary in Leuchars and would not be issued this year.
However, the householders in the Toll Road area of Guardbridge can still get the permits from Guardbridge Newsagents.
