He was speaking at the Scottish Low Carbon Investment Conference in Edinburgh.
Mr Gore spoke at length on the catastrophe he claims the world is facing if steps are not taken to reduce carbon emissions.
He said: "Scotland has unique opportunities with the natural resources, including the incredible percentage of the offshore wind resource and the excitement of the potential of wave and tide energy, although that's at an earlier stage of investigation and development."
There was only one dissenting voice in the question-and-answer session that followed Mr Gore's speech.
Tory Edinburgh councillor Cameron Rose queried the consensus on climate change.
However, Mr Gore responded by saying a man with chest pains would take the health advice of 98 doctors and ignore the two who said there is nothing to worry about.
First Minister Alex Salmond said: "We face a moral obligation to act against growing climate chaos and a clear economic imperative to avoid much greater future costs and these are issues which Mr Gore has worked tirelessly and consistently to communicate to governments, corporations and citizens across the world.
"His leadership in this area can provide great encouragement and impetus to delegates attending this week's conference as we work together to build a sustainable future for the planet and for the generations that follow us."

All this from a man who has a vested interest in "proving" climate change is "man made" Also sheer and utter hypocrisy from a man who flies all over the world, multiple times a year, while berating those on "normal" incomes on their one holiday a year. The man is a charlatan and a brass necked one

While I do think Global Warming is a serious threat to the world, I wouldn't trust Al Gore as far as I could throw him, what he publicly says and then does in the background are completely different. Ref: http://www.corpwatch.org/article.php?id=465
