After being devastated by a blaze nine months ago, the premises of a famed Perth fishmongers have been totally refurbished.

George Campbell & Sons' factory on Whitefriars Street was destroyed by the fire in May, resulting in the loss of the shop, offices and fish smoking room.

Despite this, the company was back up and running within days, operating from temporary accommodation as restoration works were carried out.

The new and improved factory officially reopened on Monday and managing director Iain Campbell is "delighted" with how it looks.

Mr Campbell said, "We now have a new shop, cold storage and offices. We also lost our smoking room in the blaze, so we now have a brand-new kiln and smoking room, as well as a staff changing area. It looks really good and customers seem to be impressed."

George Campbell and Sons specialises in the processing, smoking and distribution of Scottish salmon. Founded in Edinburgh in 1872, the firm has shops in the capital as well as in Perth and St Andrews.

Fish from markets all over Scotland is transported to the premises in Whitefriars Street, where it is prepared and smoked prior to being distributed throughout the region.
