The Grouse was placed on its plinth in the centre of Broxden roundabout on Sunday and will be seen by hundreds of thousands of people using the intersection each year.
The statue was gifted to Perth by the Edrington Group, which has historic links to the town and whose-best known brand is The Famous Grouse, and was commissioned as part of the Perth 800 celebrations.
Standing almost 50 feet tall, it depicts a grouse taking flight from the trees on the roundabout.
Perth and Kinross Provost John Hulbert said, "This impressive artwork stands at the main entrance to the south of our city, which is in itself the gateway to the Highlands.
"It encapsulates the links between the landscape, wildlife and traditional industries of Perth and Perthshire."
He added, "It will be seen by hundreds of thousands of people every year and I'm sure that it will become an iconic symbol of Perth."
Sculptor Ruaraig Maciver said, "The race has been on to get the sculpture finished in time but we have finally made it and it has been a fantastic challenge.
"I have tried to ensure this is an accurate depiction of a real grouse taking flight and I am very pleased with the aesthetics of the sculpture."
Gerry O'Donnell, director of The Famous Grouse at the Edrington Group, said, "We are very proud of our Perth roots, and we hope people will agree that this creates a truly spectacular gateway to Perthshire and the Highlands of Scotland."
