The conference allowed Scotland's events industry to assess the positive impact it is having on Scotland.

Speakers discussed where Scotland stands in relation to international competitors, how the industry can stay ahead of the emerging competition and how the impact of events can be widened to benefit businesses and communities across the country.

Enterprise, energy and tourism minister Jim Mather opened the conference highlighting the valuable role of events in promoting Scotland around the world, before letting conference chairman Dougie Vipond welcome a host of other celebrated speakers to the stage.

They included VisitScotland chairman Dr Mike Cantlay and the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games chief operating officer David Grevemberg.

Meanwhile, Perth and Kinross Council chief executive Bernadette Malone set out her ambition to expand the area's already impressive events portfolio.
