A message for first-time users of the new Courier website.

Hello, and thank you very much for showing interest in our new website.
We have been working for some time to improve our online presence, and we hope this new site represents a step forward.
Updated throughout the day, and with a particular focus on arts, culture and local events, we hope you will find it an enjoyable and positive reflection of this special part of the country we are all proud to call home.
We are very excited to reach this stage, and we were encouraged by the good response we received when we made the site available to the public to try out in a test period starting in April.
However, we also realise the change will take some getting used to for those accustomed to the old site and we want to help you find your way around.
We genuinely value any feedback you can give us. You can leave comments at the bottom of this article, email the online editor or use the 'feedback' tool on the left-hand side of every page.
But we really hope your involvement won't stop there.
Through the site — and our new social networking presences — we aim to offer whole new ways for you to interact with what we do, share your comments and ideas, send your pictures and engage with other users.
We see this launch as just the start, and already have a range of further improvements and additions planned — including better support for mobile access.
So, please play around with the site and tell us what you like and what you don't like.
In the meantime, here are some answers to questions you might already have:
Is this the whole Courier online?
No. The printed editions remain the best place to find everything we do. This site will continue to present only a selection of our content. But by introducing new features, and giving you more to explore, we hope you find the site more useful and entertaining.
If you are interested in a digital version of the printed Courier and think we should introduce an e-edition, please let us know.
Where is all the old content?
We have been filling this new site with content since March, and you will find all of that here. We are working to bring older Courier content into this new site and hope to bring that to you soon.
So what's new?
New sections: the site is full of new sections that allow you to go straight to the content relevant to your area and your interests. And if there's something missing, tell us. We'll see if we can add it.
Galleries: our new photo galleries bring you more of the fabulous pictures taken every day by Courier photographers — and our users!
Browse and explore: our much-improved search tool gives you new ways to explore content suited to your interests. Each article also brings you related content and links to more on similar topics.
Commenting: The Courier has always seen reader input as a vital component of its journalism, and with our new commenting system we hope our site can help to support lively debate.
Social networking: with over 1000 followers already signed up, our Facebook page provides another new way for users to interact with us and each other. You'll also be able to follow our updates on our Twitter feeds.
Thanks again for your time and attention and we look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks Andrew. Today's letters will be along soon. Feel free to have a look around in the meantime though! (Oh, and the "BR" tags showing up in comments are driving us mad too. We'll get those fixed.)

Reading this from Australia and new format looks great but its now Tues 08.24 am and site is still showing Mondays news...it doesnt appear to have updated with Tues news.......
However do enjoy getting the local news whilst in Australia.

I like the incease in content but feel the site is too cluttered.
I'm not convinced about smothering the pages with links to readers' comments - it's almost as bad as listening to Good Morning Scotland and the amount of blue makes it difficult to read fluently.
10.07am - 07.07.2010 Jack Low - Cranleigh, Surrey, England Report This
As a former DC Thomson journalist now retired in Surrey, I find the website compulsive reading first thing every morning. Congratulations on your new look - what a transformation from the old days of classifieds on the front page! Keep up the good work - it's much appreciated by us exiles.
01.11pm - 07.07.2010 Miya - Copenhagen, Denmark Report This
Since the change though I feel as there is less news published online than before - please give us more since I cant actually buy the courier here!

Reading this from Los Angeles and would just like to congratulate you on the new format.

I agree with Eugene & Miya. I also like the site - it looks fresh, but also feel it is too cluttered. Too many links within articles to peoples names, organistaions etc. It do feel as if I am getting less news & don't see the advantage in splitting news into Dundee/Angus/etc
