Tom Reid of Kirriemuir said he has received treatment for two serious illnesses over the past two years and was amazed at the high standard of care he received.

He was first admitted to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee in April 2008 after complaining of chest pains.

Doctors diagnosed unstable angina and he was treated through angioplasty.

Mr Reid was readmitted to hospital in February this year after losing the sight in his left eye.

"The on-duty doctor diagnosed a partially detached retina and referred my case to her consultant, who promptly came in from home to see me in the ward around 9pm," he said.

"The following day the retina was reattached.

"In the following months it became obvious that the right eye needed treatment to balance up the two eyes and this was done timeously."

He added, "Starting with NHS 24 and throughout my stays in hospital, and beyond into aftercare at the local health centre and elsewhere, I have experienced nothing but highly professional care delivered with a human touch."

However, Arbroath woman Jennifer Muir claims her experience of Ninewells was less satisfactory.

"I couldn't believe that the hospital's care had been commended," she said.

"It certainly wasn't my experience.

"I was in due to a severe case of cellulitis in a lower leg.

My leg was blistered all the way around and in the eight days I was in there it was not cleaned once."

"Care in the Community"has not lived up to the standard intened for those with Mental Health Problems.Mental Health services do as they wish+are rarely questioned as to whether they are providing value for the taxes that fund them.Public perceptions of Psychiatry are very different from the reality.
