Land yachting company Blown Away offers thrill-seekers of all ages the chance to race a three-wheel craft, powered by wind, across sand dunes.
Now identical twins Guy and Jamie McKenzie are seeing their hard work pay off.
The 21-year-olds have been nominated for a Scottish Thistle Award — the highest accolade in the Scottish tourism industry.
The brothers, originally from Perth, are in the young tourism entrepreneur category, but face stiff competition with Hannah Norman (29), owner of Fife seafood restaurant Room With a View, and 30-year-old Helen MacKechnie, of the Oban Chocolate Company, vying for the honour.
The Scottish Thistle Awards, now in its 19th year, are organised by VisitScotland to recognise excellence in the Scottish tourism industry.
Mike Cantlay, chairman of visitScotland, who won the Scottish Thistle Award in 1992, said the outstanding quality of the 2010 entries shows a bright future for Scottish tourism.
"It takes a great deal of dedication, innovation and hard work to operate a successful business, and these young people clearly have these qualities in abundance," he said.
A total of 45 tourism-related businesses and events spanning the length and breadth of Scotland have been shortlisted in 12 categories.
The St Andrews firm will find out if they have won at a ceremony at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on Friday, October 29.
