Fraser's Dragoones at Edzell Castle
Edzell Castle echoed to the sound of musket fire when it was transported 360 years back in time to the days of Oliver Cromwell and the Roundheads.
The Fraser's Dragoones re-enactment group stopped off at Edzell Castle on Saturday and Sunday, May 15-16, to showcase the fascinating period of history surrounding the English Civil War and Cromwell's invasion of Scotland.
In 1650, the laird of Edzell was commissioned to raise a regiment for the Scots army to fight for the king against the English invaders under Oliver Cromwell.
During their two-day stopover at the castle the re-enactment group showcased many of the different skills used by a Scottish soldier at that time, including the use of sword, pike and musket.
