The 23-year-old was signed from the Old Firm giants by Pars boss Jim McIntyre just before the transfer window shut at the start of this week.
The East End Park side have a game against Kilmarnock on Tuesday night followed by next Saturday's showdown against McMillan's former team-mates. However, he stressed his entire focus will be on helping the Pars secure a memorable victory.
He said: ''I was talking with my dad about playing against Rangers and I actually think it's going to be more difficult to play against Celtic, because I've always wanted to do that.
''I've trained with the boys at Rangers day in, day out, so I know what they're all about. It's going to be emotional as, obviously, they're my friends.
''But when you cross that white line, there are no friends. My friends now are in the Dunfermline dressing room. They're my team-mates and I'll have to take the Rangers game as it comes.''
McIntyre has tried in the past to bring McMillan to the Pars and the player admitted that a combination of the manager's persistence and a desire for regular football made him decide to leave the club he has supported all his life.
He said: ''I wanted to move on from Rangers anyway and this is a good opportunity to go and play for a manager who has wanted me for a while. That made the decision a bit easier.
''I thought it would have been a lot harder to leave, to be honest, but it's purely down to football, purely a football reason. I know it's a big decision to leave Rangers but, at the end of the day, if I've got to go out for football, then it's up to myself to get kicking on.
''I could have sat and taken another three-year deal at Rangers, and maybe not played again. But that's no good to me, I want to be playing football."
When asked if he had any qualms about joining a club involved in a relegation battle, he replied: ''No, not at all. I like to think of myself as a bit of a scrapper as well, when the chips are down and we're up against it. That doesn't matter to me. I'm here to play and hopefully stay in this league.''
