Dundee United are due just under £100,000 from crisis club Rangers from their recent Scottish Cup tie.

The Light Blues confirmed on Monday that they have served a notice of intent at the Court of Session in Edinburgh that they will be going into administration within 10 business days from the date the papers were lodged.

It is understood Ibrox owner Craig Whyte, director of operations Ali Russell and board member Andrew Ellis had a meeting with team manager Ally McCoist to inform him of the news.

With there now being a moratorium in place on payments to Rangers' creditors, that adds up to an anxious time for the Tangerines as they await news of whether they will ever see their share of the gate money from their 2-0 fifth-round win at Ibrox.

No one from Tannadice would comment but Courier Sport understands the cash was scheduled to be paid on Wednesday.

Double the price of Rangers tickets into Tannadice untill its paid back by their fans. Inform the Rangers fans or Rangers make good on the payments. Their fans can get their reimbursement on 50% of the ticket price from Mr Whyte. Prior to his dissapearing act in a year or two

@StephenBranney. I don't think you've thought this through. Doubling the Rangers ticket cost would probably mean less than half the number would turn up - meaning a net loss for Utd not to mention the increased policing costs. Also, Mr Whyte would not be obliged to refund the 50% as you suggested

Fair enough... Triple the price for the period it takes to make up the losses. For as long as it takes. Plus any future cup competitions at tannadice where RAngers fans attend, that money should 100% go to United untill its paid off including interest. The truth is Rangers should be doing a Livi

In light of the SPL TV deal being under threat with it being Contingent on Rangers being in the SPL. Here is the chance for the SPL to change the voting requirements in future prior to voting Rangers back into the league. Non-Old Firm SPL clubs have the chance now for real reform... Grab it!!!

Stephen, you haven't thought this through. A reconfigured Scottish football without Rangers (and Celtic) is a league where there is still reasonably high wages. The sponsor support just isn't there. Who covers the costs in this new Utopia?
