Kirk's first competitive goal of the season proved to be the winner in their Alba Cup clash with Arbroath on Saturday.
The Pars new strike pairing showed enough to give their fans some grounds for optimism as the new league campaign approaches.
Kirk told Courier Sport, "It's a bit different and we are still sort of getting used to each other and trying to play together.
"Pat's maybe a wee bit behind on fitness than the rest of us.
"He's a totally different sort of striker from Graham Bayne. Pat likes to make runs the same as myself.
"Hopefully by playing the next two or three weeks we can strike up a good partnership and get the goals.
"You never know what could happen for us."
Clarke had a goal chalked off for handball in the second half and clipped the post with a cheeky back heel and Kirk was clearly impressed.
"He's unfortunate that his goal's been chalked off, but he's a good finisher — you can see from training," he said.
He was satisfied with his own performance as well.
"As a striker you are always looking to get off the mark as quick as you can, so I was delighted to get the first one out of the way."
The Pars enjoyed a useful workout against a well organised Lichties side.
