Severin signs as trio depart Tannadice
Dundee United snapped up former Scotland defender/midfielder Scott Severin on a free transfer from Watford.

Severin (31) last night signed a two-year contract that sees the player link up again with United boss Peter Houston who he worked under at Hearts.
The completion of that transfer concluded a day of frantic activity at Tannadice that saw Argentinian forward Damian Casalinuovo sold to Hamilton for a fee of around £50,000 and both Fran Sandaza and Jennison MyrieWilliams depart after agreeing severance deals to tear up their contracts, which each had nine months to run.
However, Danny Cadamarteri — the third player who had been told he could leave on a free — remains at Tannadice, as does Craig Conway, despite a cheeky fresh attempt by Middlesbrough to prize him away on the cheap.
Conway was the subject of a fax from the Riverside telling United the offer of £600,000 for the player, which had already been rejected, was still on the table.
The Tangerines responded by telling Boro the answer at that price was still a resounding no.
The closing of the window with no big money sale being made has deprived United of what would have been a welcome cash injection, but chairman Stephen Thompson was philosophical about that situation.
"It's not ideal but not the end of the world,'' he reflected.
The arrival at the club of Severin, who spent the final months of last season on loan at Kilmarnock, affords Houston the services of a highly-experienced pro who can play in midfield, take on an organising role in central defence and operate at full-back.
