The award, which was recently granted by the Racegoers Club, concludes a highly successful year for the course. This is the third time in the past five years it has been granted the honour.
Sam Morshead, the general manager at Perth Racecourse, said: ''We're honoured to have been presented with this award.
''To win the title of Best Small Racecourse in Scotland and the North East of England is a great accolade for us and demonstrates that the Perth Racecourse experience is one that is enjoyed by regular racing fans.''
The Racegoers Club awards are keenly contested throughout the UK. With Racegoers Club membership comprising almost 6000 of the sport's keenest supporters and members going racing on average 31 times per year, it is thought they are best qualified to pass judgement on which courses deserve recognition.
Mr Morshead said: ''The Racegoers Club criteria for winning this award are based around the visitors' overall enjoyment.
''We are now planning and working towards raising the bar even further for all our visitors next year and we will do all we can to ensure that the high expectations of all our visitors are achieved, if not exceeded.''
Among the many successes this year was August's Charities Race Day, which was backed by The Courier and attended by the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay, at which over £200,000 was raised for good causes.
