Developer’s growth plans include new Perth base

Regional chairman John Cassie predicts up to 600 new Persimmon homes will be built in the medium term, managed by a new HQ in Perth.
Regional chairman John Cassie predicts up to 600 new Persimmon homes will be built in the medium term, managed by a new HQ in Perth.

Leading Scottish housebuilder Persimmon Homes has announced major growth plans which will see Perth become the headquarters of its new North region.

The company intends to build in excess of 400 homes in the coming year across North Lanarkshire, Perth, Stirling, Fife and Grampian.

The developments will support over 1,000 construction jobs and will be managed by a Perth office for which 25 personnel will be recruited.

Persimmon said the growth plans follow the company’s sustained and ongoing success across the country.

John Cassie, regional chairman, said: “A consistent high demand for quality new homes has resulted in continual growth for our existing East and West businesses in Scotland.

“Next year looks set to be even busier than this year and that is why we are investing in this new business, and we are now gearing up to recruit new talent for our new North region.

“Our recruitment process is not just about filling roles, we are looking for the very best people to join us.

“We anticipate that we will be able to grow our business by building as many as 600 new homes in the North region in the medium term.”

Managing director Iain Innes will head the new Perth operation supported by key individuals drawn from the existing businesses.

The new North team is looking for around 25 staff for jobs at various levels including architectural design, buying, accounts, civil engineering, quantity surveying, customer care, construction managers, sales managers and administration support.

Mr Cassie added: “The new region will commence with about 16 live developments in 2016 and then look for new opportunities across the region to grow the business further in a controlled manner.

“Demand is such that we are asking local authorities across Scotland to work in partnership with our East, West and North regions to ensure that much-needed new homes are delivered as quickly as possible to help meet the acknowledged housing shortfall.”

Persimmon currently has developments at Cherrybank in Perth and Dunfermline.
