The A90 was closed in both directions in the early hours of Saturday morning after a van caught fire.
All three emergency services were called to a layby just past the Petterden turn off after a large white van burst into flames shortly after 1am on Saturday morning.
The driver managed to get out in time and there were no reports of injuries.
The A90 was closed in both directions until 2.20am.
Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing, but it is not believed to have been in connection with a road traffic collision.
Lewis Gilchrist was driving to Dundee when he saw the vehicle in trouble.
He said: “I was travelling back to Dundee from work when I saw the blaze on the opposite side of the road. I pulled over in the layby opposite. There was a large emergency service presence from fire, ambulance and police.
“I didn’t hang about long. I waited a moment then went home before the police told me to move on”
A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said two appliances were deployed from the Kingsway and arrived on scene a 1.16am.
“They used one jet and a powder extinguisher to control the fire,” he added.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “We received a report of a van on fire in a layby. The incident is currently under investigation. There were no injuries reported. It was not the result of a road traffic collision.”
