Scots singer Jimmy Somerville surprised a German busker by joining in as the man sang his 1984 hit Smalltown Boy.
The moment Somerville — former lead singer with Bronski Beat — started singing was captured on a mobile phone and uploaded to YouTube.
The one-minute clip shows the busker performing on a street in Berlin before being approached by a man who turns out to be Somerville.
A member of Onkel Bernis Welt, who filmed the footage, wrote: ‘”What a huge surprise for this street musician and us.
“We were filming him singing the song Smalltown Boy by Bronski Beat, when suddenly Jimmy Somerville (the original singer) comes up and joins him singing.
“Awesome — things like that only happen in Berlin.”
The video has gone viral, being viewed more than 830,000 times.
Commenting on the video, YouTube user Alexandra Starr said: “Jimmy Somerville what a legend! And what are the chances of that happening? Brilliant. Best YouTube clip ever!”
Flamin’ Mongrel added: “It’s moments like this with people like Jimmy, that restore my faith in humanity. Well done Jimmy. The busker will now have a story to tell for the rest of his life, and proof that it happened.”
However, some suspect that the video may not be all that it seems as it has since turned out that the people who recorded the footage were from a late-night internet show.
