Organisers of a major dance music festival in Angus are dangling the carrot of a bumper pay day to local businesses.
Permission for the Festival of House, which is due to take place at the Panmure Estate on June 10 and 11, is still to be obtained from Angus Council.
However, that has not stopped the organisers from announcing a series of top dance names and putting tickets on sale for the two-day event that could attract up to 15,000 dance music fans.
A supplier open day will be held on March 3 when local businesses can learn about “commercial opportunities and register their interest in being involved in the festival”.
Organisers say they are “committed” to using as many suppliers from the local area as possible, with opportunities including food vendors, accommodation providers, transport firms, merchandisers and others.
The supplier event follows the recent well attended residents’ open day when organisers enjoyed a lively exchange with a diverse spectrum of the community.
Festival director Craig Blyth said: “The first residents’ open day earlier this month was positively received and we enjoyed many enthusiastic conversations with people from all parts of the community.
“We were delighted at the feedback.
“We had a total of 100 attendees and received 53 completed questionnaires.”
Mr Blyth said 19 were not supportive, 10 were undecided and 24 gave their backing for the event.
He added: “It is worth noting that the norm for these types of events is for the balance to be firmly in the ‘no’ camp, as there is more motivation to attend such events if you are objecting.
“We are looking forward to the supplier open day on March 3.
“This is an excellent opportunity for the local business community to find out more about festival commercial opportunities and for local suppliers to register their interest in being involved with Festival of House.”
Headlining the two-day extravaganza devoted to the electronic music genre are dance behemoths Underworld, Leftfield and Rudimental.
Permission for the weekend festival, which is being supported by the renowned Rhumba Club, includes a request for two temporary stages, a big tent, car parking and a camping area.
