An 87-year-old Montrose man told a trial he was robbed and attacked with a poker by a woman who stripped off and offered him sexual services.

Louise McDougall denies assaulting wheelchair-bound William Watson, claiming the pensioner sexually assaulted her and she acted in self-defence.

But prosecutors say the 25-year-old repeatedly struck Mr Watson, took her clothes off and robbed him, then phoned 999 and falsely told police she had been raped.

Mr Watson, who is profoundly deaf and gave evidence through a sign language interpreter, told Dundee Sheriff Court on Friday he was struck with a poker and had a knife held to his throat.

He said he had been at home with his son, who had gone out to the shop, leaving him in alone.

He said: “I was just sitting when the door opened and I was hit with an implement on the head three times on both sides.

“It was just all so fast.”

Depute fiscal Eilidh Robertson asked him: “It will be suggested to you that it was you who assaulted this girl what do you say to that?” He replied: “Definitely not I did nothing.”

McDougall, Mount Avenue, Montrose, denies charges of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner, assault and robbery, and wasting police time.
