A fire broke out in the bedroom of a first-floor flat at 16 Weavers Close in Arbroath around 1am, and firefighters attended within 15 minutes. Following arrival of the first of two appliances, from Arbroath, it was reported the resident may have been inside. Four firefighters in breathing apparatus went inside and police and ambulance also attended. A spokesman for Scottish Fire and Rescue said: “However it turned out the flat was empty and all persons were accounted for.” The area was declared safe at 1.53am.
