As he wiped blood off his hands after rushing out to help the victim of the latest A92 crash, an Angus man has warned increased safety measures are long overdue.
David Wise-Mann, 33, who lives near the railway bridge at Inverkeilor, spent an hour assisting emergency crews stabilise a critically ill 30-year-old man following a horrific smash on Monday night.
The man was driving a Volkswagen Golf when it struck a lorry at the railway bridge and he was cut free by firefighters and taken to Ninewells Hospital where he is fighting for his life.
Mr Wise-Mann heard the crash and went out to help at what was just the latest in a number of accidents on the blackspot stretch of the A92 that runs past his property.
The senior engineering consultantwho moved to the property two years agosaid: “In the short period of time we have lived here there have been a total of seven road collisions, two of which have resulted in damage to our property with the vehicles crashing into the garden. Furthermore at least two of the collisions has resulted in serious injuries to the driver.
“A few months later there was a collision involving two vehicles directly outside our gate and then another involving a car which left the road and collided with a fence opposite our front gate.
“Last night I cleaned the blood off my hands after spending an hour assisting emergency crews stabilise a male car driver involved in a collision between his car and a lorry under the bridge outside our house.
“My wife and I have been in written communication with the head of roads to request traffic calming measures and barriers for our propertythis cannot come quickly enough. Our concerns are not unjustified as recent history has proven that this is a dangerous stretch of road. For the safety of my family and road users, appropriate steps must be taken to improve the safety of this stretch of the A92.”
