A dance music festival which hopes to take place in Angus this summer announced more acts yesterday.

Number one artists Leftfield and Rudimental have been booked to perform at the Festival of House.

They join previously announced headliner Underworld at the event, scheduled for Panmure Estate in June.

The festival has encountered strong local opposition and is still to be granted a licence by Angus Council.

Residents neighbouring the proposed festival site have previously accused the group behind the event of “selling something which doesn’t exist” as all the permissions are not in place.

However, the organisers have said it is “industry standard” for licences to be granted nearer the time.

Leftfield have had a number one album with Rhythm and Stealth. Their first new album for 16 years, Alternative Light Source, reached the top 10 last year.

Rudimental, who will be playing a DJ set, have previously had two number one singles in the UK and have worked with acts Ed Sheeran and Emeli Sande.

Festival of House director Craig Blyth said: “We are delighted to be announcing these new additions who are joining the Festival of House party at Panmure Estate this summer.

“Everyone has been working hard behind the scenes to secure an eclectic line-up with the very highest calibre of acts.

“We couldn’t be happier about Leftfield, the live show is on another level, and Hacienda Classical, which we have secured as a Scottish festival exclusive, will be a ‘were you there’ moment for sure.”

Other acts announced include Mike Pickering and Tom Simpson, the keyboardist from Snow Patrol who will be DJ-ing.

Organiser Wayne Dunbar, who is a director of The Rhumba Club, added: “For 25 years The Rhumba Club has been at the forefront of Scotland’s dance scene, bringing the biggest and most respected names to the region.

“There can be no better way to celebrate our landmark anniversary in 2016 than by bringing a line up of such outstanding depth and quality as today’s announcement.

Subject to Angus Council permission, the event takes place on June 10 and 11. Tickets cost £52.50 for a day or £148.50 for a weekend camping ticket.
