Man jailed after exposing his buttocks to women while leaving Forfar nightclub

A tattooed Angus man who dropped his trousers in front of a group of women has been jailed for eight months.

William Simpson, 34, from Forfar, shocked a group of three women as they were leaving a nightclub following a conversation about body ink.

He appeared at the town’s sheriff court and admitted charges of public indecency and resisting arrest while on bail.

Defending Simpson, solicitor Nick Markowski said his client had been comparing tattoos with one of the three women but had gone too far as they were leaving Club One on November 2.

Mr Markowski added: “He was at a nightclub and was extremely drunk, and this was the result of a conversation between him and one of the complainers.

“It was by the nightclub cloakroom around 2am as they were leaving.

“There is a long corridor there and at the end of this he exposes his tattoos on his buttocks and (genitals).

“He goes outside, then the matter is reported to police and there is a struggle.

“He understands what he’s done, he would apologise to the complainers and he has already been on remand since November 3 for this.”

Mr Markowski added his client was recently fully committed at Dundee Sheriff Court for “more serious” historic matters.

Simpson appeared from custody and previous convictions were admitted. He was remanded to Perth Prison for eight months, backdated to November 3.

Sheriff Gregor Murray said: “I’ve got to balance several things in relation to the custodial sentence, which you have already realised is inevitable.

“You’ve no previous convictions for offences such as the (indecency) charge. However, I must take in to account the bail conditions and the breach.”

Simpson, of Glenclova Terrace, admitted committing an act of public indecency in that he exposed his buttocks and genitals to Laura Ogilvy, Amy Brown, and Jessica Caldow and made a sexual comment.

He further admitted resisting six police officers in their duties on Market Street, in that he repeatedly lashed out with his arms and legs in an attempt to hinder them from arresting him.
