Vintage auction organisers are hoping a chance to own a piece of Scots agricultural history will be a weekend draw.

Strathmore Vintage Vehicle Club (SVVC) is expecting interest from across the country for its latest sale at the group’s Bridge View House base near Glamis on Saturday, with keen interest in the viewing sessions that have been taking place this week.

The sale list includes a number of cars, including an impressive 1969 2.8 litre Jaguar XJ6 and an MGB that would present an ideal restoration proposition.

SVVC chairman Allan Burt said other entries on the catalogue of some 900 lots are expected to expand audience interest, including another machine requiring some tender loving care to bring it back to former glory.

“We have a 1967 Nuffield tractor, which apparently was the last model made by the firm at Bathgate, so this would be a good Scottish restoration project for someone,” he said.

An easy-rider style motorcycle has also proved an eyecatcher for viewers.

Mr Burt added: “It looks like it was built for a child and is another lot that would be a good starter project for someone.

“This time the sale also has more than just vehicles and vehicle parts. We have items from a couple of deceased estates, so there are a significant number of non-motoring related antiquities.

“We hope that will draw in different interest to the sale, which we expect to be busy as usual,” he added.

Viewing for the event continues on Friday until 8pm and the auction will get under way at 9am on Saturday.
