Singing sensation Susan Boyle has been lined up to perform at this summer’s Glamis Prom.

The event is making a return to the Angus calendar in July and the star who found fame through Britain’s Got Talent will join her idol, Elaine Paige, on the stage for the open-air Angus spectacle.

Organisers were delighted to land Evita star Paige for the July 18 prom, in which the award-winning artist will perform alongside the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

The addition of Susan Boyle to the bill will also see the two women share a stage once again, after the West Lothian singer shot to fame in 2009 with her captivating rendition of I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables on Simon Cowell’s hit ITV show.

West End leading man Norman Bowman, from Arbroath will also be singing at the prom.

Ms Paige, 66, who announced her retirement from touring last year to concentrate on special one-off performances such as the Glamis event, said she is looking forward to performing with Susan Boyle once more.

“We first sang a duet on Susan’s TV show over five years ago and I’ve been following her success ever since, so when I was invited to perform at Glamis Prom this year I thought, what better place to sing together again than in Scotland, Susan’s home.”

Susan Boyle said: “I am thrilled to be performing in such a prestigious show and to be duetting with Elaine Paige again.

“It’s brilliant that the Glamis Prom has returned and I can be a part of such an important occasion.”

For many years the prom was one of the highlights on the Angus summer calendar, attracting music fans from across Scotland and big-name performers, including virtuoso violinist Nicola Benedetti, to the spectacular setting on the front lawn of Glamis Castle. It is coming back to the castle’s busy summer programme after a two-year absence.
