Warning of noise disturbance during overnight Arbroath railway works
ByThe Courier Reporter
Network Rail is to carry out essential improvement works at the Keptie Street railway bridge in Arbroath.
The works will start tonight at 10pm until 6am tomorrow and Network Rail is anticipating some unavoidable disturbance.
The work will involve carrying out survey works and removal of cover plates using power tools, hand tools, generators, alloy tower and site lighting.
A letter to residents from Network Rail’s community relations manager Evelyn Brown apologised for any inconvenience the essential works may cause.
She said: “These works are vital to the running of a safe railway and are carried out while trains are not running to reduce the risks to our staff and contractors.
“We are contractually obliged to work, whenever possible, at times that cause the least disruption to train services.
“Unfortunately this means carrying out a lot of our improvements during the night and at weekends.
“The equipment we use means some disturbance is unavoidable but we will make every effort to minimise unnecessary noise.”
