Dundee man asks for public’s help to make instrument thieves face the music

An amateur Dundee musician has made a public appeal after thieves stole thousands of pounds worth of musical and electrical equipment from a house in Perth Road.

Software engineer Euan Morrison posted his appeal on Facebook after the raid on Sunday.

He said: “Last night some folks decided that it was their right to break into a property on Perth Road, Dundee and steal a load of mostly-music equipment.

“Quite a bit of it was mine, as you’ll see from the breakdown below, and some of it belonged to other people.

“I’m hoping that you, the good people of Dundee-and-other-areas, might step up and help us do whatever’s possible to get this stuff back.”

He added: “If you find anyone trying to flog any of this stuff, please let me (so I can check if it’s likely to be mine) or the police know.

“If you’ve already bought any of this stuff, please still let me know. I understand that you probably got a bargain, but I’ll make sure that you’re rewarded, and I hope that the stuff listed in this post will make you realise that any information you can provide about who sold it to you could make a huge difference to a number of people who were affected.”

Among the items taken were four guitars: a PRES SE custom electric guitar in grey and black, a Schecter C1 Elite Diamond series white electric guitar, an Ibanex BTB 405 brown or orange bass guitar and a Breedlove acoustic guitar.

A number of effects pedals were also taken along with a pedal board were taken, a Behringer mixing desk and an LG 42” plasma TV.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said the goods were worth more than £5,000.

She said: “Police Scotland is appealing for information after a break-in to a property at Perth Road, Dundee sometime between 1.30pm on Sunday February 22 and 8am on Monday February 23.

“Audio visual and musical equipment was stolen.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
