An upgraded dock and marina at City Quay forms part of the £1 billion plan.
An upgraded dock and marina at City Quay forms part of the £1 billion plan.

Dundee waterfront is set to confirm the project has attracted committed investment of £600 million.

The partnership between Dundee City Council and Scottish Enterprise is now seeking more investors to explore the development opportunities in the £1 billion project.

Details of the £600 million breakthrough announcement will be delivered next month in Aberdeen at the first of three investment and development roadshows. The others will be in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The latest round of committed investments include the new Dundee railway station, hotel and retail development; new Hilton Hampton hotel at West Marketgait; the H&H Properties residential development; new pedestrian bridge and office developments in the Seabraes creative site; creation of a marina and upgrade of lock gates, expansion of Dundee Science Centre and funding of the V&A Museum.

Mike Galloway, Dundee’s director of city development, said: “We are delighted at the interest being shown in the business potential on offer in the waterfront area.

“We are keen to encourage sustainable, design-led development that reflects Dundee’s status as the UK’s first Unesco City of Design.

“Most of the land in the central waterfront is owned by Dundee City Council, so we can work in partnership with investors and take a long-term holistic approach to development.

“We are also open to joint ventures so would encourage businesses and entrepreneurs to contact us with their concepts.”
