Almost Blue was launched to a rapturous welcome on Friday night with fans filling pubs and clubs in Dundee city centre for the festival of live music.
Nineteen venues are hosting around 90 gigs with music ranging from blues to bluegrass, indie to soul, pop-rock to rhythm and blues and Cajun to Gypsy swing.
Those performing in the live music walkabout include Havana Swing, Sandy Tweeddale, Bluehouse and Kriss Mathhews as well as young bands and Dundee stalwarts.
As instruments and vocal chords were being warmed up, one of the organisers, Scott Clark of Clarks in Lindsay Street, said: “We are really looking forward to it and it promises to be a great weekend.
“We hope we can carry on the momentum built up in the 19 years of the Blues Bonanza.
“A lot of people have put in a great amount of work to make Almost Blue happen and the feedback we are getting from the public is really positive.
“There’s been a great build-up this week and a real buzz.”
Song for You at the Jolly Judge and Halo at Number 57 launched the festival at 5pm on Friday night, and today first on the stage will be Stevie Anderson and Dave Webster at Boudoir at noon.
The venues and bands continue until 2.30am on Sunday and Monday mornings.
