A 19th century bridge has been returned to its former glory following a facelift. Work has been completed on the Linlathen West Bridge, a year after contractors GL Residential began the task of restoring the structure. The bridge is made of four cast iron arched ribs and decorated with circular motifs, balustrades and cornices. Residents have already begun to use it. Depute city development convener Bill Campbell said: “I’m delighted that the bridge is back in use following its refurbishment. “I hope locals will be able to benefit from it for years to come.” In 2012, campaigners celebrated the restoration of the nearby Linlathen East Bridge, one of the oldest of its kind in Scotland.
