Police in are making a fresh appeal for information following a serious accident on the city’s Camperdown Leisure Park on Monday evening.

A 24-year-old man remains in hospital being treated for significant injuries to his head and body following a two-motorcycle collision on Dayton Drive.

A second man, aged 26, was also injured in the crash and received medical treatment for injuries to his body.

While Police Scotland has thanked members of the public who came to the aid of the two men at the time it’s understood that witness statements have been sketchy.

As a result, enquiries into the full circumstances of the collision are still ongoing and investigating officers have appealed for people with information to come forward.

A huge number of emergency vehicles made their way to the leisure park on Monday in the immediate aftermath of the accident, which took place at around 5pm.

Eight police cars and two police bikes were joined at the scene by three ambulances, with one of the casualties rushed to Ninewells under escort.

Eyewitnesses told The Courier that there appeared to be a stand-off between the occupants of a large Traveller camp and local youths following the accident.

Police Scotland, however, denied that the two groups had been in conflict.

Anyone who was in the area of the Camperdown Leisure Park at the time of the incident and saw motorcycles in the area, or anyone who has any other information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101.
